Justin Simmons retires after nine NFL seasons
Two-time Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons retired from the NFL after a nine-year career that included eight seasons with the Denver Broncos. The Broncos announced the retirement on Wednesday, exactly 10 years after selecting Simmons in the third round from Boston College in 2016. Simmons spent his final season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Simmons started 16 games for Atlanta in 2024 and recorded two interceptions. He earned each of his two Pro Bowl selections and four second-team All-Pro honors with Denver. "Being a Denver Bronco was more than just a team," Simmons said in the Broncos' social media announcement. "It was my heart, my home and my story."
Simmons intercepted at least two passes in each of his nine seasons and ended with 30 career interceptions, including an NFL-leading six in 2022. He started 124 of 134 career games. "I'm always going to be a Bronco, and I'm always going to be a Broncos fan," Simmons added. "They took a chance on me, extended me. This is my home."
The Falcons congratulated Simmons on social media.
