Cincinnati Bengals Linebacker Logan Wilson Announces NFL Retirement at Age 29

Linebacker Logan Wilson, 29, announced his retirement from the National Football League on Wednesday via Instagram. Wilson, born May 9, 1997, in Casper, Wyoming, played college football at the University of Wyoming before being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round, 65th overall, of the 2020 NFL Draft.[1][2]

Wilson spent the first five seasons of his career with the Bengals, earning a starting role in 2021. He appeared in 12 games with two starts as a rookie in 2020. From 2021 to 2024, he recorded more than 100 tackles in each season.[3] Career totals through the 2025 season stood at 565 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and 11 interceptions in 83 games, per his announcement.[4]

Wilson was traded to the Dallas Cowboys during the 2025 season and completed the year there.[4] In his Instagram post, he reflected on his career highlights, including the Bengals' 2021 postseason run to Super Bowl LVI. That year, he intercepted a pass from Ryan Tannehill and returned it for a touchdown in the divisional playoff win over the Tennessee Titans, helping send Cincinnati to the AFC Championship Game, which they won 27-24 in overtime against the Kansas City Chiefs before losing to the Los Angeles Rams 23-20 in the Super Bowl.[1][5][6]

"After a lot of thought and prayer, I’ve decided to officially retire from the NFL," Wilson wrote. He credited the Bengals organization, teammates, coaches, staff, and fans, noting his daughter's birth in Cincinnati. He expressed thanks to the Cowboys and his family, signing off with "Who Dey forever. 55 out."[4]

Prior to his trade, Wilson's most recent Bengals appearance was on November 3, 2024, recovering a fumble against the Las Vegas Raiders at Paycor Stadium.[7]
